Text Messaging Terms
Last updated: August 24, 2026
These terms apply to SMS text messages you receive from an independent auto repair or mobile automotive business (a "shop") that uses Underhood or Underhood Go (together, the "Service") to communicate with its own customers. The Service is operated by US Auto Reconditioning LLC ("Underhood," "we," "us," or "our"), but each shop is a separate, independent business — the messages you receive come from your own shop, about your own vehicle, sent using Underhood's software on the shop's behalf.
1. What You'll Receive
A shop using this program can text you appointment reminders and service updates — for example, a reminder the day before a scheduled appointment, or a link when your invoice or estimate is ready. These are account and service messages related to work you've already asked for, not unsolicited marketing.
2. Message Frequency
Message frequency varies based on your vehicle's service activity — typically one or two messages around each appointment or invoice, and none in between if you have no upcoming or recent visit.
3. Message and Data Rates
Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan. Underhood and the shop are not responsible for charges from your wireless carrier.
4. How to Get Help or Opt Out
Reply HELP to any message for assistance, or STOP at any time to stop receiving text messages from that shop. A STOP request is confirmed and honored immediately — no further messages will be sent to that number from that shop unless you text START to resume, or verbally re-opt in with shop staff.
5. Carriers
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Supported carriers may change without notice.
6. Privacy
Your phone number is used only to send you the messages described above and is handled as described in our Privacy Policy. We don't sell phone numbers or use them for our own marketing, and we don't share them outside of sending these messages and operating the Service.
7. How Consent Is Given
A shop only enrolls a customer in text messaging after that customer has agreed to it — typically verbally, in person or by phone, when providing their number to the shop. See our SMS Opt-In Policy for exactly how that works.
8. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms as the Service evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
